Township Fonk

One of THE highlights in late 2008 undoubtly was TOWNSHIP FUNK by DJ Mujava.

In a manner of speaking it came out of nowhere and got stuck in the ears of many within minutes (to be precise: in 5:49 min). I had read about Kwaito - the South-African answer to Baile Funk - before. But I had never really listened to it. Wiki says it "consists of decelerated House beats", Diplo calls it "a form of  slowed-down Garage". That's all true, but it's more than just that. It's got the special African percussion and a deeeeeep bassline. That's why it was only a matter of time before some of the lading figures of UK Garage/Dupstep/Bassline snatched it to come up with their versions and an even deeeeeeeeeeeper bassline.

I'm giving you both: the original and a couple of rmxs to compare. All wicked!

Micachu & The Invisible

MICACHU & THE SHAPES. Played their Cologne gig last Saturday. Great concert. I especially liked their unagitatedness and...ahemm...their légère outfit.

Micachu & The Shapes BUY!

The second act of Herbert's Accidental Label Night went by the name of THE INVISIBLE. Here's a Nightmoves RMX and the video for their prodigious song London Girl. Compared to Mica, their sound is a lot friendlier to the ears, if not to call it Pop music. The'll reach the charts for sure, that's just a matter of time.

Greg Wilson is No1

"...for the people who don't know what a turntable is"

Isn't THAT lovely? I wish I had been the first DJ on UK TV. Or on German TV. Russian TV...whatever. I'm so jealous!

Oh..and check out his cute little headphones...amazing! There's a lot more interesting stuff on his homepage.
